C. Joseph Vijay, a famous movie star from Tamil Nadu, along with his political party called Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has made history for themselves in politics by nearly winning all the seats in the state election. His party secured 108 seats, although 10 seats less than majority. After this victory,  he has successfully disrupted the long-standing political monopoly of DMK and AIADMK parties in the region despite falling just ten seats short of a clear majority.

The secret behind his political success lies in the immense popularity of his party amongst the youth and women of the nation, which can be attributed to the astute use of a combination of his movie persona along with a renewed emphasis on faith and social services.
